DAY 23: MEDIA FEDERATION AWARDS 2010

After the rally driving and the fishing it was time to glam it up a bit with a posh media awards do for Day 23's new experience.  A top night... made up of a showcase of Cue's finest cocktail dresses, flowing wine (and mine sweeping wine when the flowing stopped), plenty of chat, a flying fiddler and a slap-up steak dinner.

DAY 21: AUSTRALIA'S FIRST MOBILE FILM FESTIVAL (& ROADTRIP TO TUGGERAH)

The Mobile Screenfest is a film festival where all of the entries have been filmed on mobile phones... hence the name.  There have been a few of these around the world but Tuesday saw the first ever Mobile Film Festival in Australia, and we were there, having a new cinematic and new media experience for 30 Days.

I wasn't expecting the quality to be great to be honest, but surprisingly there was some great stuff in there!  There were categories for best drama, comedy, horror etc.. my favourites were '15 Gay Terms' http://vzaar.com/videos/403756 and 'The Blair Spider Project'
(Can't find the video but it was pretty funny).

For the UK crew... one of the prizes was also presented by the bloke who was in Home & Away... remember him=>

And that was the Mobile Screenfest 2010.

ON A SIDE NOTE...There was another first achieved today in the 'travel- new places never visited' category... my first ever trip to TUGGERAH, about an hour and a half drive north of Sydney for a meeting.

DAY 20: ACTING CLASS

Viv and I came over all theatrical and went along for a taste of improv at the Darlinghurst Theatre Company.

My first ever adult acting class reminded me how much fun drama was at school!  The intro session we went to aims to help students develop skills through improvisation and practical application of acting exercises and games - we played a series of games aimed at encouraging team work, trust (as you would need to work with and trust other actors on stage) and loosening everyone up for the improv.

The improv exercise placed us all with partners, one who would act as the higher status 'master' and the other as the inferior 'slave'.

Really enjoyed the session and would be keen to go back...any companies out there looking for a full time experience tester as I'm not sure how I'm going to fund/make time for all these new hobbies???

DAY 19: SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE RUN DRESSED AS A PIRATE

Day 19 was both the Sydney Harbour Bridge 9k and 'National Talk Like a Pirate Day'.

We decided to combine the two, and shiver me timbers, I managed to scrape in at 57 minutes.

DAY 18: I'M GONNA EAT YOU LITTLE FISHY

DEEP-SEA FISHING... BIG TICK

Saturday's adventure was a half day fishing experience with 'All @ Sea Charters'.  http://www.allatsea.biz/

We made the epic journey to Cronulla (involving getting up at 4.45am, getting the train with loads of wrong un's still out from Friday night, and then having to sit on a broken down train for half an hour...) but the journey was well worth it when we got out on the open waves, on the search for FISH!

THE FISH IS MINE!

Our crew consisted of our lovely Skipper, Roland, our friendly expert fisherman, Craig and the other five fish hunters on our trip eager to be eating fish fingers for tea.

Blessed with a beautiful day, and plenty of fish to catch, we had a fantastic five hours of fishing after getting to grips with baiting and how to watch out for a bite (top tip from Craig - a little squid head and tentacles as bait... that's what snared me the beauty in the photo!).  We even had a bit of free dolphin watching thrown in!

Between the group we managed a leatherjacket, a few pikes, and loads of ginger ones... 'nannygai'.  In a Jaws like moment, we very nearly caught a shark, but he managed to escape near the surface luckily-I don't fancy having his shark brothers in search of revenge looking for me on Bondi this summer.

So me Mam's Whitby fishing blood has obviously made its way to me, now I've tried it I'm hooked!!!!

DAY 17: PROJECT RUNWAY

I've always wanted to be a fashion designer...milling about air kissing celebs, drinking champers, having tantrums when the wrong type of fabric turns up- looks pretty easy on Fashion TV?? 


Yeah. Turns out it's a lot harder than it looks!


Mission 1. buy sewing machine, get sewing machine back to house in one piece on a Friday night in Bondi, resist temptation to go out drinking on way back which would have inevitably ended up in leaving sewing machine in pub


Mission 2. find somewhere in Bondi to buy fabric and sewing stuff.  turns out there is a wicked fabric shop called spotlight which I never knew existed. spent hours choosing fabric and patterns I will never use and asking the women behind the counter which fabrics made shit sewing look better.

Mission 3. work out how to thread the bloody sewing machine.  this took a seriously long time.  started to think that it might have been wise to go for that pint after all.


Mission 4. & new experience of the day... make an item of clothing and wear it.

I have a new found respect for dress makers and fashion designers - and a new top to wear to bed.
